Behind the Scenes: Choosing the Winner of the BuckWear.com XL Zombie T-Shirt Prize Pack

We’ve had several questions about how we chose the winning comment on the Buck Wear XL t-shirt prize pack. As a result I thought I’d share the highly scientific method we used to pick a winner.

We decided to have a little fun with that giveaway to break the monotony of rafflecopter entry forms.  To switch things up a little bit we asked for some creative comment responses to a few specific questions. If you go back and review the blog post, you’ll see once the entry period was closed we randomly chose 3 comments out of all the comments received with the help of random.org.

We chose to do things this way to keep things fair, to keep things random and to avoid the possibility of being accused of us being biased in favor of any one entrant.  Out of those 3 comments we chose the entry we like best. The three comments that were randomly chosen were:

1.    “4. I would like to see a zombie boa constrictor or a zombie sloth.”

2.    “Question 4: zombie beaver….I don’t want their teeth anywhere near me.”

3.    “Oops forgot: 3. When you say the fish are biting – you hope they don’t mean zombie fish!”

Were there comments that were better than the ones randomly chosen? Of course! However we decided to randomly choose three and pick the best of those to make things as fair as possible!

I actually chose the random comments pretty late from home so I had to recruit the help of my son just before he went to bed. I knew I liked comments 1 or 2 best above, but I couldn’t decide which. So I asked my young son to help make the choice. He decided “Beavers don’t eat meat”. I informed him that I didn’t think sloths ate meat either. (I had to know so we looked it up and learned that some two toed sloths have actually been reported to be seen eating small birds, insects etc.!)  My son informed me that he thought a “Zombie snake sounds cool” and a “zombie sloth would tear you up with those claws”. I concurred. We then agreed that the comment #1 above was our winner. We then had some chocolate chip cookies and a glass of milk and the meeting was adjourned for bedtime.

There you have it folks!  No conspiracy theories. No hidden agendas or illuminati-like secrets. Just a very technical and highly organized scientific selection process. It may not be conventional but it was incredibly fair, we put some thought into it and we learned something!
I hope that helps.  Be sure to thank our sponsor by visiting BuckWear.com to check out all of their t-shirt designs and like their facebook page if you haven’t done so!
