Any zombie fan would love to see the classic 1968, Night of the Living Dead brought to life on stage. Well start shambling toward Toronto because that is exactly what’s going to be happening this spring at the Theatre Passe Muraille!
It’s been over 44 years since George A. Romero’s classic zombie film, Night of the Living Dead, was released. This cinematic masterpiece has gained hordes of fans and a cult following in the decades since it first hit the screen.
Thanks to Nictophobia Films, Night of the Living Dead fans can now experience this classic film live! Have no fear because the production is in good hands. The Director is Christopher Bond: co-creator and co-director of the very successful Evil Dead The Musical! While this isn’t the first time a NOTLD play has been done, I’m pretty confident it has never been done quite like this.
The entire live production will be presented in black and white. Even down to the actors! According to the official Night of the Living Dead Live website, the play will be an interactive experience:
The performance will be audience interactive as live zombies walk through the aisles, making their way to the stage keeping spectators on the edge of their seats. Measures have been taken to maintain a PG rating so that a younger audience can also experience this fun and amazing production.
NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD LIVE will captivate audiences as they experience this classic told in the intimate setting of a live theater. This will bring the viewer closer to the story than ever before, as they are literally sitting in the house with the characters as they fight and kill their way through the marauding ghouls. At the end of the show everyone in the room will know what it feels like to experience a night with the living dead!

If that isn’t enough to get you excited about this production, maybe an appearance by the man himself will get your zombie brain jump started. You heard me right. George A. Romero is scheduled for a live post performance Q&A on May 3rd, 2013 at 7:00pm and Saturday May 4th, 2013 at 7:00pm. The internet buzz surrounding this event also indicate John Russo and Russ Streiner will be there both days as well!
