Thursday, May 12th 2016: Turner Broadcasting/Adult Swim Announce Upcoming Robot Chicken: The Walking Dead Special

Already known for working with major movie and pop culture franchises to create parody specials,  Adult Swim’s Robot Chicken announced today that they’ll be teaming with AMC’s The Waking Dead’s Robert Kirkman and Scott Gimple to bring a Walking Dead special to life. The announcement came via an official Turner Broadcasting press release:

In keeping with the tradition of working with major franchises such as Star Wars and the DC Comics universe, the Emmy®-winning team behind Robot Chicken joins forces with the creators of The Walking Dead to bring fans an all new and extra bloody half-hour special. Robot Chicken creators Seth Green and Matthew Senreich and their Stoopid Buddy Stoodios partners, John Harvatine IV and Eric Towner, will bring an animated zombie apocalypse to Adult Swim with The Walking Dead’s creator/executive producer Robert Kirkman and showrunner/executive producer/writer Scott M. Gimple.

What are your thoughts? The Robot Chicken crew definitely has a ton of material to work with and we can’t wait to see what hilarious and edgy 30 minute parody special they come up with. One thing is for sure. . . no cast member, crew  member or character is safe! There’s no official air date for Robot Chicken: The Walking Dead Special as of yet but we’ll update you when we hear news.

With nearly 17 million views at the time of this post (yes you read that right) this video isn’t’ exactly new.  In fact it was posted around nine months ago. That being said we still find ourselves watching it once a week and laughing each and every time. What video are we talking about you ask? “The Walking (And Talking) Dead”  – A Bad Lip Reading of The Walking Dead from YouTube user Bad Lip Reading. The folks behind the Bad Lip Reading channel on YouTube basically remove audio clips from popular movies, TV clips, trailers and other videos. They then  take the audio-less video, do a hilariously bad lip reading  and replace the audio with their own version. The end result is usually so off the wall and so well dubbed that you can’t help but laugh. This Walking Dead installment is no exception. In fact you’ll routinely find us dropping catchphrases from this video nearly a full year after it was posted. If you haven’t seen it yet (or you just want 5 and a half minutes of your day to be better) check it out below:

• “Guess what? I just ate a hot dog.”
• The entire La-Bibbida-Bibba-Dum routine.

Some of the audio sync in the clips involving Rick are so spot on, take the “Pink Shark” scene for example, we have to give props to Bad Lip Reading for their hard work. It can’t be easy!
