On Monday AMC announced their plans to launch a companion series for The Walking Dead that is rumored to approach the zombie apocalypse from a different perspective and one that isn’t based on Robert Kirkman’s comic.

AMC President and General Manager Charlie Collier  stated:

“We look forward to working with Robert, Gale and Dave again as we develop an entirely new story and cast of characters. It’s a big world and we can’t wait to give fans another unforgettable view of the zombie apocalypse.”

Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman will be the executive producer of this new zombie tv series along with Gale Anne Hurd and David Alpert.

There are rumors that this new series will be titled, “Spread The Dead” but the official word is this series is not yet titled. We’re pretty sure the folks at AMC can come up with a better title than that!

For those of you here in the U.S. and other countries outside the UK that might not have heard about this: BBC has a new zombie themed TV show that launched on 3/17/2013 .  The new television show entitled, “In The Flesh” is about zombies that have been treated and rehabilitated back into society after a zombie uprising.

In this series the world was hit by a zombie plaque but scientists develop a medication, administered via daily spinal injections, that helps cure those suffering with PSD (Partial Death Syndrome).  Of course, not all of the world is eager to welcome these former flesh eating zombies back into society. Much of the series will tackle the drama that ensues because of this.

The series reportedly centers around a young man/former zombie named Kieran. He rose from the dead as a zombie after killing himself due to the trauma of watching his best friend die. Rehabilitated Kieran is now haunted by the memories of what he’s done as a a zombie. He also has to deal with the fact that most of his hometown were members of the HVF (Human Volunteer Force), a group of humans that banded together to fight the undead when the government could no longer do so.

This unique new take on the zombie genre may just leave you wondering whether humans or zombies are the real victims. It airs at 10:00 pm on Sundays on BBC Three in the UK.
