Mcfarlane Toys has released details on the second series of action figures based on characters from the hit AMC TV series, The Walking Dead. Series 2 will consist of 5 figures. Rick Grimes and Shane Walsh are the only human characters in this series. The zombie selection is top notch for the second series. It includes three of the most memorable zombies from the show to date. In series 2, McFarlane toys brings us Bicycle Girl, the RV zombie complete with screwdriver in his eyeball and the obese zombie in the well that Glenn was sent down to retrieve!
While the zombies chosen are fantastic, I’m a little worried execution may be a little off. It’s not fair for me to judge or review these figures based on a few photos, so I’ll try to hold off on giving my full opinion of them until I see some production pieces. There is one figure in this series I just have to say something about, and it’s “Bicyle Girl”.
I was excited to hear Bicycle Girl was going to be in this series. Based solely on the photo shown here, I’m slightly disappointed in the execution. I don’t like the fact that she’s wearing jeans. Believe me, I completely understand that these are on the shelves in toy stores and extra care needs to be taken here. I’m just hoping these are made so the pants can be removed (get your mind out of the gutter). Based on the photo above I also don’t really like the hard rectangular shape of the ground Bicycle Girl is laying on. I know she’s laying on ground…but the weird hard edges make it look like she’s laying on a slab. I’m left wondering if the base she is laying on couldn’t be thinner and just be more of a random shape instead of a rectangle with hard perfectly linear edges. Granted, the final production pieces that hit store shelves may vary from what is shown here. Based on the photo above I’m still pretty excited about series 2, even if Bicycle Girl looks like she is going to be a little disappointing.
Series 2 is currently planned for release around October, 2012.
