The Saddest Little Zombie game is a free web game based off of the free ebook, The Saddest Little Zombie: A Christmas Tale from author Douglas Clegg. Whether you’re an android fan (I’m with ya!) or an apple izombie there are a ton of free Zombie themed Christmas apps. Here’s a list of some of our favorites. Since I’m an Android guy many/most of these will be games for android devices. If an app description below doesn’t mention it’s available for apple devices that probably just means I was too lazy to verify whether or not it is.  Just search and you’ll know for sure.

Regardless of which type of device you prefer finding free zombie Christmas apps is NOT hard. Just head to your favorite app store and search for “Zombie Christmas”.  Please note prices may fluctuate for these apps. While they were free at the time of posting, they may not necessarily be free when you get around to reading this post.

1.  Zombie Chickens Christmas (iOS and Android): 

Zombie Chickens are invading the forest. Swipe your finger across the screen to slash the zombies. Be careful of the barrels as they are explosive and will end your battle!

This game is actually a Christmas version of the regular Zombie Chickens game.  CLICK HERE to get Zombie Chickens Christmas via itunes. For android products, Zombie Chickens is actually called Zombie Slice in the Google Play store. We don’t currently see the android Christmas version listed but you can still get it HERE or via the amazon appstore for android.

2.  Santa vs. Zombies Pirates (for Android and iOS): 

In this zombie Christmas game you get to choose whether you’ll play as Santa and his elves attempting to save Christmas or the Zombies who want nothing more than to eat your brains and ruin the Holidays.  A little monotonous for adults but kids seem to love this repetitive and sometimes frustrating free zombie Christmas app. Available for android and iOS. <==Click there to download for more information on how to download for your favorite device. I found this via Google Play, iTunes and the Amazon appstore so it’s not hard to find!

3.  Santa vs. Zombies (from Amphibius Developers):

Ho ho ho, Santa Claus is coming to town. Only this town has been taken over by the living dead! Take on the role of Santa Claus as you go chimney to chimney, fighting the zombie apocalypse. Clear the house of all Zombies before Christmas morning, build a snowman and even decorate a Christmas tree! Seasons greetings be damned, Santa Claus has a score to settle, and he’s going to earn his milk and cookies this year.
The dead are walking and old Saint Nick has just added them to the naughty list.

4.  Christmas Zombies! Run! (Android and iOS):

This fun zombie Christmas game has you running for your life. Christmas zombies are chasing you and you to run and jump to flee with your life.

In a unique twist to the runner type of game, it is Christmas time and you are fleeing a horde of not-so-scary zombies by running across the snowy city rooftops.

Simply tap to make your hero jump, don’t fall down the gaps between buildings, leap over the obstacles, and don’t let the undead catch you. Watch out for the psycho snowmen – tap to jump over them!

It’s that time of year again! Just like July means the start of Christmas decorations showing up in stores around here (it gets earlier every year), August means it’s time for many stores to start stocking Halloween decorations. That’s even more exciting for me because it means the opportunity to score some awesome zombie stuff!

One of the new products this year (at least they are new to me) are some pretty cool zombie head “pathway marker” yard lights. These lights consist of three plastic zombie heads with white LED lights in their eyes. They’re wired together and powered by 3 AA batteries. Activated by a sound module, when they sense a loud enough noise (slightly louder than normal conversation) they’ll burst into action with loud spooky sounds and bright white flashing lights. Check them out in action in our YouTube video below:

You can mount the three heads on the included lawn stakes or use your imagination and come up with new ways to display them. I paid $16.00 before tax but you may be able to snag them for less if you’re willing to wait for a sale which I’m sure will come. If you’re really brave and your store has a surplus try holding out until just after Halloween when they’re sure to mark them down to move them out of inventory.

What’s Great:

• They’re loud. Much louder than you’d anticipate. Easy to set up. Simply open the box, unplug the “Try Me” button”, flip the switch to “ON”, twist the lawn stakes on and then plunge them into your lawn…or the heart of the nearest unsuspecting sparkly vampire.

• Affordable

• They have a flat back and they’re just BEGGING to be customized by creative types.

MEH…What’s Not So Great:

• The wires connecting the lights are just around 24″ in length. That means you can only space these guys a couple feet apart at the most. If you’re handy with wire cutters and a soldering iron I’m sure there’s a way around this. However the manufacturer and I surely aren’t recommending you modify their product. ()=)

• Not quite bloody or gory enough for me, but again that’s nothing fifteen minutes and a paint brush won’t fix.

• The sounds are the typical cheesy Halloween sounds. You know…things like rattling chains, crows, spooky “oooooooooooo” sounds. I’m having a hard time resisting the urge to see if I can hack the sound module to record different sounds or install my own altogether. Again: Don’t try this at home.

The Final Verdict:

Zombie heads with light up eyes for less than $20.00? Lawn decorations that can terrify visitors and annoy neighbors all year long? Come on what’s not to like? Aside from the cheesy sounds, lack of gore and short wires, these are pretty cool.

We give the “Zombie Pathway Markers from Big Lots a 4 out of a best possible score of 5. With a little work and some more attention to detail these would be even better! We recommend heading down to your local Big Lots store to pick up a set.
