Even armed with that knowledge we were shocked to see the announcement of the Nerf Zombie Strike line come from out of nowhere. Photos, rumors and even the actual product shown in action had been leaked on YouTube without any official announcement from Hasbro. Just prior to San-Diego Comic Con the buzz started hot and heavy and it was officially a craze when Nerf featured a bazillion (yes that’s a real number) zombie themed products at SDCC 2013. (See THIS is why we need to attend Comic-Con!) Much like a real zombie apocalypse there wasn’t much in the way of an official warning but I guess that just adds to the excitement.

For those with short attention spans let’s give you the quick and dirty. Nerf is launching the Zombie Strike line in early August 2013 with 2 Target Exclusive guns, the Zombie Strike Hammershot (retailing for $14.99) and the Zombie Strike Sledgefire (retailing for $27.99). There will also be Target exclusive X30 Zombie Strike Deco Darts to make sure you have plenty of ammunition for Z-day.

Hasbro will follow their Target Exclusive N-Strike blasters with a slew of zombie themed blasters, blades and accessories. Many of these have a reported release date of either August or early 2014. Afterlife With Archie is being written by Glee writer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and will alongside the normal Archie series.

The first story arc is reportedly called Escape from Riverdale. and the second arc is called,Betty RIP.

You’re probably dying to know how on earth zombies overrun Riverdale. I know I was. According to Nerdist.com, it all starts with a dog bite. Reggie runs over his beloved pet pup Hotdog. Of course Jughead has a hand in mixing any cocktail that tastes like trouble. Jughead convinces the local teenage witch Sabrina to cast a spell and bring Hotdog back from beyond the dead. Hotdog comes back as a zombie and bites Jughead and we have our patient zero.

Just when we think we’ve seen it all, something like this comes along and proves us wrong. John Deering and Deering Banjo Company have created the latest 5 string Goodtime banjo and it’s been given a zombie treatment.

The Zombie Killer Goodtime Banjo launched at the 2013 Anaheim National Association of Music Merchandisers Trade Show where it received a very positive reception.

The 5 string banjo is inspired by the movie Zombieland.  More specifically, it was inspired by Woody Harrelson’s character, Tallahassee , that uses a banjo at one point to call out  zombies before bashing some zombie skull with it. Not familiar with the scene? First of all..shame on you! You’re a zombie fan that’s never seen Zombieland? Here’s the clip below.
