Sony recently released the Last of Us Remastered trailer at E3.  As if the extras and the ability to play this game in full 1080p wasn’t cool enough, the trailer has a rendition of “Something in the Way” by Nirvana playing. I’m sold If something gets me to change my ways and head over to the PS4 side of console gaming, it would be The Last of Us.

The Last of Us Remastered will be available July 29th, 2014.

Dead Island 3 Announcement Trailer:

The protagonist this time around is Max, along with his companion, a cat named Rick Furry. While the title “Dead Island 2” and cats named “Rick Furry” don’t exactly scream originality, we’re hoping all the creativity is being saved for the gameplay itself.

Max isn’t immune to the zombie virus but there are Berzerker, Hunter, Bishop and Speeder heroes that are. Of course zombies aren’t the only threat. Players will need to worry about the US Goverment and miltarized factions eager to gun you down should you get in their way.

Dead Island 2 Weapons:

What about weapons? Of course there are many melee weapons since that’s always the focus of Dead Island games in the past. There will also be some firearms such as an AK47 and projectile weapons like a  flame powered crossbow. (I’ll hold Daryl Dixon jokes until my first play through.) New additions to the weapons system in Dead Island 2 include the ability to dual wield and the addition of motorized weapons.  Similar to the weapons crafting system in Dead Rising (and 90% of other zombie video games out there) you’ll have the ability to make some crazy weapons with things like chainsaws, hedge clippers and more.

Yager claims they’re going to make combat much more entertaining this go around which will hopefully be an improvement from the clunky and sometimes annoying battles in previous versions of Dead Island.  Other new improvements include a new “fury attack” for heroes and “Social Multiplayer.”  The latter allows up to 8 players share a single map and they can choose to compete, coexist or cooperate.

Dead Island 2 Release Date:

At the time of this post there is no definitive release date for Dead Island 2 which will be available on Xbox One, PS4 and PC. Yager has simply stated the release date window is currently planned for Spring of 2015.

The zombiephiles over at Undead Labs started 2012 with a bang…and no it’s not a headshot. Instead they’ve created even more buzz about their upcoming console based MMOZ (massively multiplayer online zombie game).

I’m probably losing some of you so let’s start from the beginning.  If you love zombies and gaming, you need to get up to speed! Let’s start from the beginning.

Who Are/What Is Undead Labs?:
Undead Labs is a Seattle, Washington based game development studio founded in November of 2009 by Jeff Strain. Yes, the Jeff Strain of World of Warcraft and other great MMO fame. Strain is the former lead programmer of Blizzard’s MMORPG World of Warcraft.  He was also a programmer and executive producer for Guild Wars! In 2009 Strain decided to put all of his video game development prowess to the best use imaginable: creating the ultimate zombie themed MMO game for console gamers!

What is Class 3?:  

Class3 is the code-name for the ultimate zombie apocalypse survival game currently in development for X-B0x 360 at Undead labs.  The game is said to be the ultimate in zombie apocalypse survival simulation. You can choose to go it alone or play co-op with other players online. It is planned for release on X-Box 360 as an X-Box Live Arcade title.

Plenty of zombie slaying action is planned, but the focus is more on survival tactics and strategy based gameplay. The plan is to make this as “real” as a zombie survival game can be but also make it fun!

Consoles are Great, but What About PC Gamers?

Surprisingly, there is no plan of a PC version being developed.

I Read Something About Class 4. What’s the Difference?

According to the Undead Labs site, Class4, will be completed and released after Class3. Class 3 will be played on your XBox 360 and involves 1-2 players on the same screen or via Xbox live. Class4 will be the next phase based on feedback from Class3 gamers. Class4 will truly be the ultimate in console base zombie survival gaming. The large scale server hosted environment of Class4 will support thousands of simultaneous zombie players.

There is so much zombie awesomeness surrounding Class3 and Undead Labs that I can’t hope to even scratch the surface here.  To avoid dragging this post on and on I’d simply recommend you visit the Undead Labs Website.
